Donations

Supporting PILC through general donations ensures that we can continue offering vital services and events to our community. Contributions help fund:

  • Special Events: White Cane Safety Day, ADA Celebration, and other community outreach initiatives.

  • Independent Living Programs: Providing life skills classes and peer support.

  • Advocacy: Increasing awareness of disability rights and ensuring that individuals can make informed choices about their independence. Your generosity fuels our mission to promote accessibility, inclusion, and empowerment for people with disabilities in the Texas Panhandle.

Our Youth Encountering Success (YES) Program provides year-round support for youth ages 14-24 who are transitioning into adulthood. This includes:

  • YES After School Program: Focused on teaching life skills throughout the school year to help students gain independence and confidence.

  • YES Summer Camp: A unique program featuring three camps where youth are placed based on availability and assignment.

    • Hands-on Learning: Engaging activities that build advocacy and life skills.

    • Thematic Lessons: Focus on personal growth and self-development.

    • Mentorship & Support: Guidance from experienced staff to help youth gain confidence in independent living. With donations, we can expand the program’s reach and provide the necessary materials to make each session impactful and accessible to all participants.

PILC plays a crucial role in disaster relief efforts, ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive the necessary support during crises. When the Texas Panhandle faced devastating wildfires, PILC assisted with:

  • Emergency Response: Collaborating with the Office of Emergency Management to provide disability-inclusive disaster relief.

  • Essential Resources: Distributing medical equipment, mobility aids, and other supplies to those affected.

  • Recovery Assistance: Supporting individuals as they regain stability and independence after a disaster. Your contributions help us prepare for future emergencies, ensuring that no one is left behind in times of crisis.

This activity is funded by a grant award totaling $362,073 (100%) from the US Department Health and Human Services and a grant award totaling $105,659 (100%) from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission with $00 (0%) financed from non-federal sources.
