  • I am very much interested in technology for the visually impaired - specifically Apple products.  I also collect Lionel trains.

  • I was drawn to PILC first as a consumer when I began to ride SpecTrans and become more independent in my mobility.  I am a true believer in the mission of PILC and the independence of all people with disabilities.

  • Faculty member in the Speech department at Amarillo College

  • I love to listen to audiobooks and podcasts. I love to try new things. Right now, I am learning to play golf.

  • I am a board member at PILC because as a disabled person, I have been fortunate to have a rewarding career, and I want to help people with disabilities find  their own success either by achieving independent living or vocational skills.




  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, and Criminal justice. I have worked in the insurance and financial industries. I have been on the Texas State Independent Living Council for 1 1/2 years. I am currently the Vice Chair on that council.

  • I enjoy doing historical-based renaissance re-creation. This includes fencing, cooking, and brewing beer and wine. 

  • I have a passion for advocating for those with disabilities.

    • I am passionate about working for PILC because it is a rewarding and exciting experience to see our consumers reach their goals of independence. We see first-hand the development and achievements of our consumers being advocates for themselves.

    • PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Business, MBA with an emphasis in leadership, and a BBA in Marketing with a minor in Political Science from Texas Tech University

    • I enjoy hiking, biking, and being outdoors with my family in the glorious creation God gave us. 


    Accounting Assistant

    • 20 years' experience in bookkeeping

    • My hobbies include traveling, reading, Oklahoma City Thunder basketball, and OU football.

    • I am passionate about working for PILC because I believe everyone deserves the best chance at life and PILC helps provide that opportunity.


    Community Resource Coordinator

    • 15 years' of experience working with agencies in Amarillo providing services for individuals and families who have children with special needs. 

    • I enjoy taking continuing education classes at Amarillo College and attending workshops, conferences, and trainings to help me further my education and knowledge so that I can better prepare myself to help others.

    • Spending quality time with my family, traveling, staying healthy, and running road races.

    • It’s my heart’s desire to work with individuals with special needs to learn to be independent and become strong advocates for themselves.  I have a total of 30 years' experience working with individuals with special needs, beginning with my own daughter, Nikki. 


    Consumer Coordinator

    • My hobbies include painting, arts and crafts, and taking walks with my dogs.

    • I enjoy working at PILC because it gives me a sense of fulfillment and give people in my community a sense of purpose. I have been serving the community since I was 12 years old and it was then that I developed my love for helping people. I love seeing my consumers achieve their goals and have the confidence knowing they can be independent.


    Media Program Coordinator

    • I received my Bachelor's of Social Work from WTAMU and  my Master's of Social Work at Columbia University. I also went to school for graphic design and have been in the field for over a decade.

    • I enjoy creating illustrations and volunteering my time with disability-related advocacy organizations to promote the need for independent living.

    • I started at PILC as an intern for my undergraduate degree and was hired shortly after I started. It has always been in my plans to work at PILC so that I can be more involved with the local disability community.


    ILS Counselor

    • West Texas A & M University, Bachelor's of Science in Social Work

    • Currently working on Master's of Social Work, specialty in Mental Health and Substance Abuse at The University of Arlington 

    • My hobbies include spending time with family and friends, and my 2 dogs and 1 cat, traveling, and crafting on my cricut.

    • I love being able to have the opportunity to help others and I am glad PILC provides me that opportunity to help individuals be their best and to live their best lives.


    ILS Counselor

    • I was a Dental Assistant for 10 years and taught Dental Assisting for 8 years, an employment specialist with the High Plains Lighthouse for the blind for 5 years, an Employment Specialist contracting with DARS (formerly TRC) for 15 years. I served on the board for another Independent Living Center for 5 years and on the Board for the Downtown Women’s Shelter for 2 years.

    • I have 1 son, 2 grandchildren, 2 cats and 2 dogs that are the joy of my life. I worked with my father for 6 years designing and selling tombstones. I love to paint.  I love anything creative. 
      I am a storyteller, it brings me joy. 

    • I love serving and learning how we can better our world by being more accepting of people in all walks of life. I want to be a part of the change that makes our world more accessible. I want to see more people being able to live independently because of what we did to make a difference. 


    Consumer Coordinator

    • Peer Support Specialist for 7 years, PSR Coordinator/Peer Support with Teambuilders Counseling.

    • I enjoy helping others, my son, and recovery.

    • I feel that the opportunity to work with consumers will allow myself to gain more knowledge and be a voice for many individuals.
